WAR AND PEACE . . .
Connecting the dots

Free (donations welcome) / Light refreshments

Think through the excuses this country uses to go to war and the role of the peace movement.   Using a social, economic and political lens, we will dialogue around what strategies are needed to increase the effectiveness of the peace movement in ending war abroad and its damaging impacts at home.

PANEL:

  • Wilson Riles --Former Oakland City Council member; champion of Oakland's Nuclear Free Zone law; community peace and justice activist
  • Jackie Cabasso --Executive Director, Western States Legal Foundation (WSLF); National Steering Committee member, United for Peace & Justice
  • Aimee Allison - 1st Gulf War Conscientious Objector; speaker, writer, organizer, supporting counter-recruitment efforts and soldiers who resist the war in Iraq
  • Andrew Lichterman --WSLF Program Director; attorney;   writer, focusing on the abolition of nuclear weapons, and on making connections between that work and broader movements for peace, economic equity, and a society more in balance with the planet.
