S.T.R.O.N.G. S.E.E.D. is a network of conscious young activists
and entrepreneurs working to unite and empower our communities through
spreading social awareness and economic development. The program matches youth
16 – 21 with local nonprofits and socially minded businesses for a seven week
internship. During that time period, the youth learn various needed skills to
become successful entrepreneurs. S.T.R.O.N.G. S.E.E.D. runs from July 8 th –
August 26 th , 2006 and encompasses three main parts:
• Summer
Internship: 10 – 15 hours a week with a local nonprofit where you
learn needed business skills.
• Saturday Trainings: Every Saturday, from 11 – 2, the
program will meet as a collective to attend relevant workshops, discussions,
and trips.
• Community Event: S.T.R.O.N.G. S.E.E.D. participants
will organize an August community event; a reflection of the skills learned
over the Summer.
WHAT PARTICIPANTS WILL GET FROM THE
PROGRAM :
• Leadership training and
strategies for community empowerment.
• Real world job
training, leadership skills, and opportunities to build networks
• Exploration of
entrepreneurial interest and employment opportunities.
• Create friendships and
networks with other youth organizers and access to community resources.
• Entrepreneurial job
training to be able to produce and market your own goods and products, and
receive certification at the end of the program.
